Animal Care Center at Cherry Way

The Animal Care Center at Cherry Way is a comprehensive pet care facility, which boasts a full service Veterinary Hospital, a professionally staffed Grooming department, a large, modern Boarding kennel complete with our new Deluxe Suites, and a supervised off leash Daycare.

The combination of these three aspects of animal care provides for the complete well being of you and your pet's experience a truly rewarding one. The Animal Care Center at Cherry Way has been serving the Gahanna-New Albany area since 1997, and is considered one of the area's best kept secrets.

We are conveniently located just off Morse Road near I-270. We readily serve the surrounding areas of Bexley, Westerville and Columbus.

Clients are welcome to use one of all of our departments for their special friend's needs. You are always welcome to stop by for a tour of this exciting facility. No reservations or appointments can be made from this site.

  • Vanessa M Douglas, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Vanessa M. Douglas, DVM has been with the Animal Care Center since 1997.  Prior to graduation from the Ohio state University College of Veterinary Medicine, she completed an Associate degree in Equine Management at the OSU Agricultural Technical Institute and a Bachelors degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine at the University of Findlay.  She currently serves as the chairperson for the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association's Public Relations Committee.  Dr. Douglas and her husband have two children, a son who is a recent graduate of Miami University and a daughter who is a junior at Miami.  Their pet family includes two Italian Greyhounds, Roo and Fiona.  In her free time, Dr. Douglas enjoys spending time with family, biking, camping and watching hockey and soccer.
  • Gwen Duncan, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Dr Duncan is a 2007 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  She has undergraduate degrees in Biology and Music Education.  She is a Gahanna native excited about practicing veterinary medicine in her own community.

    Dr Duncan has extensive surgical experience and has a special interest in ophthalmology and preventative medicine.

    She has 2 retired racing greyhounds and one very opinionated cat at home.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, horseback riding, hiking, knitting and photography.
  • Vince Y Fu, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Vincent Y. Fu, DVM, is a Worthington native.  He received his BA in psychology from OSU in 1993, and his DVM from OSU in 2003.  Dr. Fu joined the Animal Care Center at Cherry Way after graduation and has been a talented, compassionate addition to our staff.  His interests are internal medicine, behavior, and preventative medicine.  Dr. Fu is a full time veterinarian and enjoys biking, skiing and spending time at home with his wife Emily, twins Jack and Tyler , daughter Claire, dog Daisy, and  2 cats James P Sullivan  and Mike Wasowski.
  • Tom P Halliday, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Tom P. Halliday, DVM is a native of Marietta, Ohio.  He received his BS from Wake Forest University in 1993 and DVM from OSU in 1998.  both with honors.  He has experience in zoologic medicine, laboratory animal science, and clinical pathology.  Special interests at the clinic include soft tissue surgery, diagnostics, and preventative medicine.  He has been a member of the board of trustees for the Columbus Academy of Veterinary Medicine.  He is the owner of the Animal Care Center at Cherry Way and works full-time at the clinic.  He is an avid outdoorsman and soccer player and has an active family life with his wife Marcie, 3 sons Truett, AJ, Emerson and daughter Mary Grace.  Dr. Halliday's pets include two cats Indi and Murphee.
  • Trina L Gilbert, BS, RVT

    Head Veterinary Technician / Office Manager
    Trina has worked for the Animal Care Centers since March 1992.  She has worked her way up from kennel technician to veterinary technician to office manager.  She is a registered Veterinary Technician receiving her degree from Columbus State Community College in 1997..  She also received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from The Ohio State University in 1998. 

    Trina enjoys time at home with her husband Rick, 6 yr old son, Kyle and 4 year old daughter, Sydney.  She also has three English Mastiffs, Hank,  Mable and George, three cats Bella, Bernie and Louie and two horses EJ and Sonoma.
  • Heather Holbrook, RVT

    Veterinary Technician
    Heather has worked in the veterinary field since 2000.  She graduated Cum Laude from the veterinary technology program at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, VA in May 2005.  After completing  a one year post-grad internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City, she relocated to the central Ohio area.  Heather came to The Animal Care Center at Cherry Way after spending three years in the Internal Medicine department at MedVet Medical Center for Pets.  She lives with her husband, Ted, and their three pets (one dog and two cats) in Canal Winchester.  Heather enjoys reading, biking, trying new foods, and went skydiving for the first time in October 2008.  She is excited about being a part of the ACCCW family!
  • Nicole Cox, BS, RVT

    Veterinary Technician
    I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Equine Health Technology from Otterbein College in 2007.  I also recieved an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology from Columbus State Community College in 2007.  I have been working in the veterinary field for 10 years now.  I am native to Gahanna and proud to be working at ACCCW. 
    In my free time I spend it horseback riding and with my husband. 
    I have 4 dogs: 2 Great Danes, 1 terrier mix, and a  Chinese Crested.
  • Cassie Chagnon

    Veterinary Assistant
    Cassie is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  She plans on attending veterinary school after completing her undergraduate degree.  She has been working at The Animal Care Center at Cherry Way since April 2012.  She volunteered at both large an small animal clinics.  At home she has six cats and bearded dragon named Yoda.
  • Chelsie Gray

    Veterinary Assistant
    Chelsie has been working with animals since she was fifteen years old.  She and her husband Nick have five dogs and a cat.  She enjoys horseback riding, being outdoors, and hunting.  It is her love of animals that has her wanting to eventually become a veterinary technician.  She is adding to her family and is expecting a little baby boy early spring.
  • Samanntha Miller

    Veterinary Assistant
    When Samantha was thirteen years old she shadowed Dr Halliday at The Animal Care Center at Cherry Way for career day at school.  She absolutely loved the atmosphere and dreamed of working with animals one day.  Samantha and her husband have a terrier mix "Ava" and four turtles that she has had for fifteen years.  In her free time Samanntha enjoys being outside, horseback riding, creeking, fishing and hanging out up at Lake Erie.
  • Laura Perry

    Veterinary Assistant
    Laura is graduate of Otterbein College with a degree in Equine Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine.  She was recently accepted into the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine with plans to become a large animal veterinarian.  She has been at the Animal Care Center since October 2008 and works as a vet assistant and front desk pet care coordinator.  She loves living in the country and has a menagerie of animals, big and small, at home.  Pictured with her is her baby, a 7 year old Golden Retriever, "Dakota".
  • Phil Reale

    Veterinary Assistant
    Phil is a student at the Ohio State University.  He is currently studying psychology which will be applied to animal behavior.  He has been working with small animals for seven years, and joined the Animal Care Center team in May of 2009.  He also works as a positive reinforcement canine trainer for two other facilities and has been volunteering for the OSU puppy class since January of 2006.  He loves to bring his knowledge of animal behavior to the exam room for both pets and clients.  In his free time he enjoys fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking or any activity that takes him outdoors.

    Hi, my name is Debra and I am happy to be a new member of the ACCCW family.  As a client, the support and friendliness of the entire staff during joys and sorrows of pet ownership have been invaluable to me.  As a receptionist I hope to be able to help provide a positive experience to you.  I had worked in child care for twenty-seven years and recently decided I wanted a career change and was thrilled to be offered this position.
    I have been married for thirty-one years and have three adult sons.  Currently I have, a miniature pincher named Marley, and a mixed breed named Molly I do hope to add more furry babies to my family soon.

    Hi my name is Michele, I have been a pet care coordinator with the Animal Care Center @ Cherry Way for eight years.  I have been married for 20 years and am the proud mother of a 15 year old son.  Our family includes two pugs named Ink and Cody who keep our family very entertained and a curious leopard gecko named Speedy!  I enjoy seeing your pets wagging tails and hearing their gentle purrs.  I look forward to making your visit and theirs as pleasant as possible.

    Katie is a recent graduate of Miami University with a degree in Interior Design.  She has worked in the customer service industry for four years and recently started as a receptionist here at The Animal Care Center in the spring of 2011.  She loves being in the outdoors, including hiking and fishing.  She loves all furry animals, but most of all her yellow Lab, Sonny and black Lab/St. Bernard mix named Zoe.

    Julie is married and the Mother of three children.  Two boys that are grown and a five year old daughter.  She has four pets.  Two dogs, a mastiff and a cairn terrier, a cat and a pot bellied pig.  She taught special education for many years and decided that she wanted to work with animals.  She worked at a boarding/rescue facility for three years and is happy to now be a part of The Animal Care Center at Cherry Way.

    I have always had a love for animals since Day one.  I have three beautiful,  wonderful children who mean the world to me.  I have a wonderful loving husband as well as a great companinon by the name of Nevaeh who is a Great Dane.  I hope to get back into school relatively soon to pursue an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology and go on for my Bachelors in Animal Science.  I have been working with animals since middle school.  I started out volunteering with a local animal shelter and went on to manage a pet store followed by managing a kennel and Doggie Daycare for an animal clinic.

    Hi, my name is Kelly.  I have been with the Animal Care Center at Cherry Way since August 2010.  My husband and I recently adopted a dog from the shelter.  Her name is Josie, but is affectionately referred to as "Animal".  We believe she is a lab-terrier mix, therefore full of energy.  My husband and I would love to add another dog to our family, but are still searching for just the right one.

    Jennifer has been employed at the Animal Care Center since February 2004 as a receptionist.  Prior to this she managed a local animal shelter for 5 years.  Her passion is animal rescue with an extra special affinity for cats!  She shares her home with several cats of her own that she has adopted and rescued.

    I have been working with animals for the past 6 years including volunteering at the Franklin County Humane Society, working at other boarding and daycare facilities, as well as fostering numerous cats and dogs through the Stop the Suffering organization.  I am a recent graduate of The Ohio State University with a major in English and a minor in Women's Studies with a focus on the non-profit sector.

    Other than animals, my passions include painting and photography, reading and writing and spending my free time outdoors.  I am excited to be a part of the Animal Care Center Staff and look forward to continuing my learning through becoming a veterinary assistant and hope to be able to open my own animal rescue shelter someday.

    My name is Jennifer, I am one of the groomers here at the Animal Care Center.  I've been grooming for about 10 years and have happily been with the clinic for the past 3 1/2 years.  I am also the proud mother of two children.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, cake decorating and spending time with my family.

    I was raised in Ostrander Ohio on a farm.  It was just my mother and I.  I was blessed with the passion for animals at a very young age.  I received this gift from my mother who was a groomer and tech for over 35 years.  I have carried on the passion for over 30 years now.  I plan on continuing my career in grooming with Animal Care Center at Cherry Way for as long as I can groom but will never loose my passion for animals.

    Since I was five years old my dream was to become a Veterinarian.  After my first year of college reality set in and I am now an Equine Vet Tech major at Otterbein University.  I have 6+ years of experience working with animals from working at other clinics and volunteering at the Capital Area Humane Society. My life revolves around my animals that are better known as my kids!  I have a dog, two cats and a rabbit.  I started at ACCCW in December of 2012 and although I haven't been here long, I enjoy being a  part of the staff as kennel / daycare assistant and bather.

    I started working at the Animal Care Center in the summer of 2009.  Luckily Dr. Halliday is my neighbor and helped me with finding this job.  I am currently a sophomore at The Ohio State University, and am exploring majors in the health field.  Pre-vet has always been a bit of a dream for me since I love animals and have seven of my own.  I have two dogs Guess and Mia, three cats Katrina, Oreo, and Sam I Am as well as two turtles Raphael and Donatello.

    I am currently 18 years old.  I graduated from Westerville North High School this year (2013). I will be attending Virginia Tech as an Army Cadet.  I have a big fluffy Bernese Mountain Dog named Paige.  She is four years old, rarely barks and has one blue eye and one brown eye.

    Rachael has been at the Animal Care Center at Cherry Way for just over 5 years.  Rachael would eventually like to pursue a career as a dog groomer.  She enjoys spending time with her guinea pig "Clover".
  • Carol Crites

    Kennel Manager
    Carol began working at Animal Care Center at Cherry Way as a kennel technician in March 2003.  She became the Kennel Manager in August 2006.  She is an Advanced Certified Pet Care Technician with the American Pet Services Association and is working towards becoming a Certified Kennel Operator.  At home she has 2 dogs (Angel and Susie), 3 cats (Little One, Smokie, and Blondie), and 18 Draft Ponies.  She shows the draft ponies at several county fairs throughout the summer.  Most of her time is spent with animals, on the computer or going to hockey games.
